Author's Notes: I don't even know, this happened.
Packing up her bags was easy, clothes and books and memories contained in a suitcase and Morgana realizes almost her entire life is reduced to trinkets she plans to take with her, and boxes to be stored, while she goes on to live in another space. Her flat's is bare, stripped of any trace of her and the breaths she took every morning.
Gwen is silent, smiling at her every so often as Morgana pads around the flat collecting and discarding Usually her smiles make Morgana feel less cynical about the world, they smooth her rough edges, these smiles are different, she smiles like she's trying to commit to memory Morgana's face, the color of her eyes, the curl of her lips. Morgana can't smile back.
Gwen looks odd sitting on the middle of the bed, legs folded beneath her. The sight catches her unaware. A mattress and a pretty girl. An empty surface. Morgana and Gwen had curled up under the covers many nights, kissed and touched and shared thousands of secrets, the image of Gwen on that emptiness is disconcerting. She hates how easy it is to remove memories from everywhere else but her mind.
She throws one last scarf inside her smaller bag, getting up to sit next to Gwen. She squeezes her hand, Gwen is always warm. Morgana is going to miss that about her.
"I'll back for winter break," she says, trying to keep her voice leveled.
"I know you will. We'll be seeing each other faster than you realize," Gwen answers, sounding far more composed and light than her. "Plus, it's the twenty-first century. There's FaceTime, Skype and good old phone calls."
Gwen bumps their shoulders. Morgana chuckles, "You're right but i can't help it. I'll miss you."
"Me too. A lot. But i want you to go and be your amazing self on that stage and wow every single person who sees you. You're going to show them what an incredible dancer you are. The company would be stupid not to hire you permanently."
Morgana smiles warily. "And if they do?"
"We'll talk about it if and when it happens. Do you thing a bunch of ballerinas intimidate me? It'll take more than that to stop me from seeing you again."
"I don't how you manage to always say the exact words I need to hear. You're absolutely incredible."
"You better believe it."
Morgana kisses Gwen's grin, deepens the kiss bringing Gwen so close there's no space between their bodies. If they have to live on different ends of the world Morgana's going to make their last moments together mean everything.
