Merlin laughed when he and Morgana walked outside the school, hand-in-hand. Snow was falling quite thickly and it was even colder than when he’d come to school that morning. He shivered and grasped Morgana’s hand even tighter. “This is so beautiful, but so cold.” Then he groaned. “And if it keeps up, I’m going to have to shovel it later.”
“Aww,” Morgana replied, “I’ll come and help you.”
“Have you ever shoveled snow before?”
“No, but it can’t be too hard, can it?”
Merlin smiled. “Sure it is. You don’t want to, believe me.”
“All right. But here must be some other way I can help you out.”
“Well, I am pretty cold.”
Morgana raised herself on her tiptoes and kissed both of his cheeks.
Merlin grinned. “And my forehead.”
She tilted his head down and kissed his forehead.
“And my nose” She kissed his nose.
Merlin felt a swooping sensation in his stomach. “And my lips.”
Morgana put her hands on either side of his head and tilted it down again then pressed her warm lips to his cold ones.
Merlin had no idea what to do, so he pressed back. That seemed to be what Morgana wanted, because she “mm’ed” and wrapped her arms around his neck. They stayed like that for several moments before breaking apart.
“I think I’m all warm now,” Merlin murmured, looking down at Morgana.
“Good,” she whispered back.
They resumed walking to the coffee shop, both thinking about the first kiss they’d just shared.
