On top of the list
“And…cut! Excellent. That’s a wrap!”
Usually, the tension of the day fell from him when he heard the words. Any other day, everyone would buzz around busily, clearing the set, going back to the trailers to get rid of the costumes and the make-up. But today, everyone was reluctant to leave. Since the show hadn’t been renewed for a 9th season, this had been the very last take, ever.
Katie was wiping at the corner of her eye while Angel rummaged in her bag for a tissue. Rupert looked around, trying to not meet anyone’s eye and Tom’s face turned to a mask of stone.
“Free at last!” Eoin shouted a bit too lively and too enthusiastic.
“Bad acting, man, bad acting,” Alex whispered.
Colin ran a hand down the sleeve of his jacket as if he’d never really seen it before. He gave him a wry smile. “I’m going to miss him, you know.”
He nodded, fiddling with the fastenings of his cloak. “Me too.” I’m going to miss you. He didn’t say that of course.
Colin patted his shoulder. “But at last we’re free to do what we want now. What’s on your list, Bradley?” The smile he gave him a little less fake than the one before.
The thought was liberating. No more Arthur, no more working on the show, no more being unable to act upon his feelings. He leaned over and pressed his lips to Colin’s.
He didn’t hear the shouts and whistles of the others, the clapping and howling. All he heard was the blood rushing in his ears and his heart beating fast. So that was it, he finally knew what it felt like to kiss those wonderful lips. The lips that produced sounds at first that could hardly be recognized as a language which he learned to understand, the lips that pulled into that beautiful smile, the lips that had teased him to kiss them for so long. They felt warm and soft underneath his and after a moment they parted to let his tongue in, to let him discover and explore.
When they both finally broke for air, he grinned against the blush on his face.
“That was on your list?” Eoin laughed while Tom hit a fist against his upper arm.
Katie rolled her eyes. “Come on, Irishman, you can’t honestly be the only one who didn’t know that?”
Bradley raised his head nervously and met Colin’s eyes, wondering what he would find there. The warm smile settled his nerves. “Let’s go, we have a wrap party to attend tonight.”
On their way back to wardrobe, Colin bumped into him a few times before he grinned at him and ran off. Bradley chased him and he let himself be caught before they reached the costume department. “What was on top of your list, Morgan?”
“This,” Colin’s eye lit up in a twinkle and he grinned widely as he leaned in for another kiss.
