As Morgana slowly walked away from Camelot, clutching her wound, she thought of how she had been brought to defeat filled her mind. It must have been Emrys who collapsed the ceiling. And even though Gwen looked as surprised as she was, he had to have been working for Arthur, one way or another. How else could she have lost her magic? It took powerful magic to counteract another’s magic.
She stumbled and nearly fell. She wanted to. Sooner or later she would, she knew. There was no recovering from this wound a soldier of Arthur’s had given her. The charges against her dear half-brother mounted, and only she could exact revenge. If she lived long enough.
And there she goes, down to her knees, then her side. She was too wounded to ever recover. Fine then. Her last thoughts would be about how much she hated Arthur and his pet, Emrys. How she wished they could suffer and die at her hand. But it would have to be at another’s hand.
She closed her eyes and waited for death to take her. Just before she lost consciousness—she could feel it draining from her—she heard a fluttering sound and the squeak of a small animal.
