Merlin marveled at the size of the man. He was even taller than Leon. Lancelot had introduced him as Percival, and this giant of a man had kept the enemy from reaching them through his great strength. Those boulders hadn’t looked light.
At dinner that night, Merlin introduced himself. “I’m Merlin, Arthur’s manservant.”
“Percival. Pleased to make your acquaintance,” the big man said.
“So how did you come to meet Lancelot?”
“He came to my village just before Morgana’s army attacked. We did the best we could but my family was still killed.”
Merlin shifted. “I’m sorry to hear that.”
Percival waved his hand. “We’ll get her this time. It’s why I decided to join Arthur.”
“You think we have a shot at winning?”
“I think we stand a good chance, with the men in this room.”
Merlin clapped a hand on his shoulder. “I feel the same way. It’s good to have you.”
“Thank you.”
