Gwen was pulling along a reluctant Merlin. He had never been into any cricket change rooms before and although he fantasised about the prospect, when it came to reality his nerves failed him a little. Especially when he was sure all the men in the room besides himself would be dead straight.

“C’mon Merlin,” Gwen urged. “What’s the big fuss? It’s not like you haven’t seen it all before.”

Merlin could debate with her about not having seen these particular men in differing states of undress before, but he was quite sure she would fob that off with some other remark. He doubted anything he might think of saying would stop her from making him her ‘buddy’ while she went to congratulate her fiancé, Lance, and his team mates on a glorious win against their club rivals. Safety in numbers.

“You’re going to drag me anyway,” Merlin conceded. He took a deep breath and prepared for the worst.

When they enter the room, he was pleasantly surprised to see other partners and even children running around. The men were fully dressed, aside from the odd bear chest. Merlin felt a little disappointed.

Once Gwen had spotted Lance, she led Merlin over to him. Lance was sitting, chatting to the tall, built blonde he was quite sure was the captain.

“Hi Darling,” Gwen said, announcing their presence.

Lance turned around in surprised. “Hey, what are you doing here?” he asked, “And with Merlin?” he added as an afterthought once he spotted the thin statue next to her. Gwen gave him a light peck on the cheek.

“I came to congratulate you. You batted really well.”

“Ahmm.” Arthur cleared his throat to remind Lance of his presence.

“Oh, right. Gwen, this is Arthur. Arthur, Gwen, my fiancé.” Gwen extended her hand for a shake, but Arthur pulled it up to his mouth and kissed the back of her hand. Gwen blushed. Lance chuckled a little. “Arthur, this is Merlin. He is a friend of both of ours. Merlin, Arthur.”

Merlin was hesitant to extend his hand, but when Arthur offered his, he took it. Arthur had a strong grip and his hands were much bigger and fatter compared to Merlin’s small, skinny things.

Just as Arthur was about to say something, he was interrupted by a hand landing hard on his shoulder and a loud voice erupting from the person it belonged to.

“Hey Cap, can I have a word about fielding positions?” came the voice from a lightly tanned man, with shoulder length hair tied back in a ponytail and well defined arm muscles. Merlin couldn’t help but notice the even more defined pecks and abs as the man walked around to stand beside Arthur.

From the abs, Merlin’s eyes were naturally drawn to his waist and below. He felt his eyes widen and a small twitch below his own belt when he saw the red waist band and detailing, blue material and yellow logo with a red S printed in the middle of the man’s pants, directly below his naval.
The pants were quite fitted around his solid legs and by the way they were filled out, the man looked to be quite well hung.

Lance noticed where Merlin’s eyes had gone and gave him a slight nudge. Merlin quickly brought his gaze back up to the man’s face.

“Gwaine!” Arthur chastised. “How many times do I have to tell you to put clothes on before coming out of the showering area?”

“I am wearing clothes. And what’s the big deal anyway?” Gwaine said with a broad grin across his face like Arthur’s authority meant nothing.

“They’re the big deal,” Arthur said pointing in Gwen and Merlin’s general direction.

Merlin felt his cheek heat up and blush profusely when Gwaine’s gaze landed on them. Gwen did better at hiding hers.

“I don’t think they mind the show,” Gwaine replied with a very confident smile.
