Morgana hummed as she got ready for school in the morning. As she passed her mirror to get into the shower, she stopped and turned more fully toward the mirror. There was a purplish spot on her collarbone. She leaned closer to get a better look and gasped. It was definitely a hickey. She cringed. How was she going to get this past her father until it healed?
She showered quickly and got dressed in a turtleneck though it was a warm spring day. After she was ready, she crossed the hall and knocked on Arthur’s door. “What?”
Morgana pulled the collar of her shirt aside. “Is this what I think it is?” she asked him.
“Oh my . . . it’s a hickey! How are you going to hide that from Father?”
She fixed her collar. “Does this hide it?”
“Sure, but you’re going to be warm.”
“I’ll have to deal with it. If Father sees it, my life is over.”
Arthur grimaced. “Good luck. And maybe tell Merlin to not do that.”
They went down and faced breakfast with their father, who didn’t seem to notice anything unusual about Morgana. As they headed outside the door, she breathed a sigh of relief. Hopefully the hickey would heal quickly.
