"What are you doing to me, Morgana?" Merlin cried from his position on the wheel. His arms and legs were splayed and tied at the edge of the wheel.
"You have gotten in my way one time too many, Merlin," she replied. "You will repay me with your soul."
Merlin felt a stabbing sensation in his gut. What exactly did she mean by that? He watched her continue to mix her potion in the cauldron and laugh when it was done.
"Are you ready to be bound to me for all eternity? Not that it matters if you're ready." She chanted words of the old religion over the cauldron then poured its contents into two glasses. Then she grabbed Merlin by the jaw and poured the contents of the glass into his mouth. When he tried to spit it out, she held his nose shut. He swallowed reflexively. The potion burned its way down his throat and into his stomach.
Morgana drank her glassful, scrunching her nose as the taste hit her tongue. She flinched as it burned its way down, but smiled when it was over. "Our souls are now bonded. You will have to do my bidding.
Just then, both of them started shaking. "What's going on?" Merlin yelled.
"I don't know. This wasn't in the notes," Morgana slid to the ground, still shaking.
Sparks arose from both their chests and flew into the opposite person. They both rose in the air as if stabbed in the back then slouched back down, where they both panted for a moment. Merlin took the moment to sever his bonds with a whispered word, and stood shakily. He looked down at Morgana.
"How did you do that?" she asked
"I simply used your magic. A souldbond works both ways, Morgana. I now have access to your magic."
"That's not the way it's supposed to work! You're supposed to be my slave now!"
"Excuse me if I don't care to be that. Now, I'm going to leave." He spotted the cave's exit and started that way. "See you never, Morgana."
Morgana spluttered out incoherent words, but she didn't try to stop him. He had to get back to Camelot and to Gaius. He had to find out exactly what this soulbond entailed and quickly.
