After she put Ellie to bed, Morgana rejoined Merlin in the kitchen. She looked down at the box she’d prepared for mailing and sighed.
“That was a heavy sigh,” Merlin commented.
“Some days I wish I could swaddle Ellie in bubble wrap,” she replied.
“Why is that?”
“Ellie got two new bruises today. From just learning to crawl.”
“Morgana, growing up is inherently bruise-inducing. Besides, I know much better things to do with bubble wrap. And they’ll take your mind off of bruises.”
Morgana grinned. “I think I know what you have in mind. Consider my mind cleared.” She got up and crossed the room to Merlin, throwing her arms around his neck. She lifted her mouth to his in a hard, unrelenting kiss. Breaking away, she said, “I’ll fetch the bubble wrap.”
“And I’ll be waiting in the bedroom”
Needless to say, Morgana forgot about bruises for the rest of the night.
