“Here’s your medicine, My Lady,” Merlin said to Morgana. He handed over the small bottle.
“Thank you, Merlin,” she replied. “I really appreciate how you—Cream!”
A white cat shot out of Morgana’s chambers.
“I’ll catch her, Morgana.” Merlin took off after the cat. It took him a few minutes and several bites and scratches, but Merlin finally cornered the cat. He picked her up and made his way back to Morgana’s chambers.
“Here you are, My Lady,” he said, handing over the little white furball. She sat the cat down and closed the door behind her.
“It seems I am indebted to you, Merlin.” She tapped her chin. “How shall I reward you? Oh I know!” She smiled and beckoned him closer. Without warning, she laced her hands around his neck and pulled him down for a thorough kiss.
When she let him go, he reeled back, stunned. “My Lady! Um, that was . . . wonderful. Thank you.”
“It’ll be our little secret.”
Merlin nodded. “Our little secret. Okay.” He blushed. “I’ve got to go, but I’ll see you around.”
Morgana smiled. “See you around, Merlin.” She winked.
He turned around and began the trek back to Gaius’s chambers. He knew he’d be replaying that kiss in his head for months to come.
