Leon and Elyan found themselves hunched low behind the statue of some nameless Roman warrior. They waited impatiently for Gwen’s distraction to work. It was critical to the success of their plan. She knew how important this was.
Leon peeked out from behind the statue. He saw the back of Gwen’s head while she talked quickly, working her way into the room they needed to be. She was ridiculously silver-tongued for all that she tended to stammer when she was nervous. He would be sure to liberate an extra honey cake from Cook’s pile just for her.
