"Merlin!" Lancelot called out as he ran down the steps two at a time. "What happened?"
Merlin glanced up, his face a mixture of pain and embarrassment. "A little girl was climbing up and down the steps and I..."
"Fell down the steps in a rush to save her.” The knight added, his voice gruff with concern.
The young warlock grinned sheepishly. "Well, she was barely two years old." He rubbed his ankle trying to sooth the pain. "She could have been hurt."
There was no use in saying anything about him risking his safety. Merlin was willing to do anything to help someone else even if it meant putting his self in danger. And that was just one of the many things he loved about him. He sighed softly. “Let’s get you in bed.” Lancelot leaned down, slid an arm around Merlin’s waist and gently pulled him to his feet. “Lean on me.”
Merlin leaned his head on Lancelot’s shoulder and whispered softly to himself, “I always do.”
