Galahad looks in the mirror in the morning and he’s covered in bruises. He shouldn’t be surprised; he knew there would be consequences when he held out his hands for Mordred to tie him up, all but begged Mordred to give him all he had. Finger-painted blue stripes his hips. Down his neck it’s darker, oval shaped bruises. Pink indents, still, from Mordred’s teeth. Red rings around his wrists where he pulled a little involuntarily at the bounds. And tiny scabs from the knife, from where Mordred pulled it onto its tip to rest on his skin, where he breathed just a little too hard into it, stretching down his chest.
Galahad knows he has to hide the marks, but that doesn’t register on any other level. Like to tell him that he shouldn’t have them in the first place. That normal relationships don’t require that sort of branding, that sort of damage. He’s too wrapped up in Mordred and the feeling of being wanted, being possessed, to notice.
Mordred just watches him from the bathroom doorway and wishes his eyes would open. Because Mordred can’t bring himself to end it, but he knows it should finish. It should have never even begun.
