Arthur pushed open the door with his foot, his arms burdened with files and paperwork from the office he had yet to complete. Once inside, he set the papers on the table, shut the door, and grabbed his cell phone, which had been balancing carefully on top of the stack.
"Merlin, where are you?" the blond called
Arthur received no answer, but could hear music blasting from the kitchen. He knew he didn't need to ask again where his boyfriend was. He stopped, once he was at the entryway to the kitchen, and watched the show before him. On a normal day, Arthur might have cracked a smile; the sight of Merlin dancing topless in the kitchen, but today was not a normal day. The brunet was currently twirling around the kitchen, a spatula held high above his head; singing along to whatever song was on the radio. He finally turned, spotted Arthur watching him from his spot in the doorway, and froze, his cheeks quickly becoming pink.
"You're home. I didn't hear you come in. Hi." Merlin said with an embarrassed smile
"Hi." Arthur replied with a raised eyebrow
Merlin quickly realized that his boyfriend was not in a good mood. His embarrassed smile quickly turned to worry.
"You're not smiling. What happened? Did you have a bad day?"
Arthur held up his phone, turning his screen to look at the other man.
"Would you care to guess why my phone has been ringing non stop today? Would you also care to guess why I had to turn off my phone this afternoon, because I kept getting text message after text message…from people I didn't even know?"
Arthur's voice was beginning to get louder and louder. Merlin began to shrink back away from the blond, until his back hit the sink.
"No. Tell me."
Arthur quickly turned on his phone, immediately went to his pictures, and searched for what he was looking for. Once he found the picture, he held the phone back up for Merlin, and waited for the other man to respond.
"Does this look familiar?" Arthur asked carefully
Merlin squinted his eyes to stare at the picture. It didn't take him long to realize what picture that Arthur was showing him. Only days ago, the two men had decided to dig through their costume box, and wear sexy costumes for each other that they hadn't worn for quite some time. In the picture, Arthur was dressed in a cowboy hat, vest and chaps, posing on top of the sheets, legs spread wide, a length of rope lying next to him on the bed. Merlin's face turned even redder, and his insides began to curl with heat remembering the night that they had shared.
"Yes. How could I forget?" Merlin replied grinning shyly
"Good, because now my Mom, and my Aunt, and my friends, and my sister, can all remember too. You didn't just text me that picture this morning, you texted that picture to nearly all our contacts as well."
"I wouldn't do that. We promised not to share those pictures with anyone."
"But you did Merlin. And now, everyone knows what I was wearing on Saturday as I made you come all the sheets."
Merlin's eyes widened, a look of realization crossing his face.
"No wonder my Mom called this morning and asked me if I needed her to get more rope."
Arthur let out a very loud and frustrated groan, turning his back on Merlin, walking away from the kitchen.
"I'm going to bed. I can't take anymore tonight. Night Merlin."
"Arthur I'm sorry! I really didn't mean too."
Merlin was answered with the sound of the bedroom door shutting, and he knew, even if he really truly tried, Arthur wouldn't be coming out of the bedroom for the rest of the night. The brunet turned and hurried back to the kitchen, to grab his phone resting on the counter, he scrolled through his messages and was horrified to discover that in fact, he had sent out the message of Arthur in his cowboy costume. As he set the device back on the counter, Merlin was determined to right the wrong that he had done to his boyfriend, and his very best friend.
Arthur opened the door to his office, and walked back toward his desk. He had barely been seated for a minute before his secretary was bursting in behind him.
"Mr. Pendragon, I know you're busy, but your phone has been ringing and chiming for the past two hours nonstop. I didn't want to bother you in the meeting but I thought I should let you know."
Arthur picked up his phone, from where it was resting on his desk, and stared at the screen. She was right; he had text messages, missed calls, and voicemails waiting for him. He didn't know where to begin! Arthur settled back in his leather chair, and began to swipe at the screen.
"Thank you for informing me. That will be all. Please shut the door on your way out." Arthur said, his eyes never rising from the screen
The woman smiled, did as she was told, leaving Arthur and his phone alone.
Arthur wasn't sure where to begin, but he tapped the envelope icon on the screen, and looked at all the text messages waiting for him. As he read each one his face grew into a bigger and brighter smile; each message saying nothing but nice things about Merlin and their relationship with each other. Arthur continued reading messages until he came to the one that the brunet had sent himself.
'you may have seen the picture that I accidentally sent out yesterday. I apologize to every one of you, as that picture was never meant to be shared. In sharing that message I broke the trust of someone very dear to me, and so, I would like to apologize for doing just that. Arthur Pendragon is the most important person in my life, and if I don't have his trust, I have nothing. Please forgive me Arthur, I love you more then life itself. See you tonight. M x'
Arthur quickly clicked out of his messages, and dialed a number that he didn't even need to think twice about what it was.
"Does this mean that I don't need to send the picture of you drooling in your sleep?" Arthur asked with a smile
"I don't drool!"
"Last night you did. And by the way, I forgive you." The blond said with a smile
"Delete that picture, and I love you. Thank you. "
"You should give your Mom an answer though." Arthur replied with a smile
"About buying more rope. We're going to need some more of course."
