Title: The Community
Character/s: Arthur, Merlin
Summary: Arthur's favourite prompt community is fifty prompts old. It also happens to be Merlin's favourite prompt community.
Word Count: 413
Author's Notes: I don't even know, I just wanted to write a little something Pairing Pendragon/Merlin-esque (if you haven't read it, it's amazing, my little drabble doesn't even hold a candle to it)
Arthur couldn’t believe it. His favourite prompt community on Livejournal was fifty prompts old. He remembered when he’d first found them, about three prompts in, and couldn’t believe just how much time had passed in fluff and pwp and extended fics and the friends he’d made through the community in comment conversations.
He clicked to view the comments on the modpost, just to see who’d signed up so far. And there it was, first comment, clotpoles_r_us. Arthur got on with him ridiculously well, loved the way he wrote. After days of agonising, he’d added him as a friend, to find that yes, he was male, yes he was gay, and, later, he lived in the same country as Arthur.
So far, all well and good. But then Arthur had developed a bit of a crush on the guy, through reading his posts and commenting on his fics and adding him on Twitter and Tumblr. It was only weeks before he couldn’t post something without waiting, desperate, for clotpoles_r_us’ response.
And so it was with this prompt. Arthur signed up, wrote his piece, and posted. And waited to see what came of it.
It was only an hour after posting that the message appeared in Arthur’s inbox.
Hi, onceandfuture! I just wanted to say, I really loved your piece today. I mean, I really love all your drabbles, but today’s was, well, it made me think. And it made me think about what I think about you, and I’m not writing this very well, I’m really nervous, forgive me? Anyway, I really like you. As friends and, well, I’d like to ask you out. We probably live miles and miles away, and you’re probably going to be freaked out by this anyway, that or a scary old man, but I had to say. If I’m crossing a line, just tell me and we can go back to how we were before.
But yeah. Message me.
Merlin, Arthur thought. He’d never heard that name before, it didn’t make up any part of clotpoles_r_us’ usernames on any other site. All it could be, Arthur thought, was his real name. Merlin.
Arthur’s heart swelled as he read and reread the message. There was only one thing he could do.
Words were too difficult to compose, Arthur found, when it was him feeling the emotions. So in the end, all he sent Merlin was a link to his facebook page. The friend request came in almost immediately.
