"I was thinking, sire, you might give me today off."

It's not the response to where is my breakfast? Arthur's looking for. "Why?"

"Well, it's one year to the day I saved your life," proudly.

Arthur is uncomprehending. "Oh. You mean the day my father made you my manservant?"

Merlin opens his mouth, then pauses. "If you prefer that angle. I just thought... to celebrate --"

"Merlin." Merlin looks up too quickly, ever a creature of hope. "Why on earth would I celebrate getting stuck with the worst servant in all of Camelot?"'

"No reason. I'll get your breakfast, then."
