Rating: G
Pairing/s: None
Character/s: Gaius, Uther, Merlin
Summary: Gaius watched

Word Count: 100
Prompt: Hiding
Gaius stands at Uther’s right hand watching as his kind is judged and shackled, burned and beheaded. In ones and twos and tens they die. Gaius keeps his eyes down, his hands clasped, hating his King and himself in equal measure for silent decades.
Time mutes the agony of injustice, banked from violent pyre to smoldering embers. Merlin is the poker and the air that reignite the flame. Merlin is the voice that reaffirms the shame of standing back, doing nothing. Merlin is the man that Gaius wishes he could have been. They both hide but Gaius hid in silence.
