Merlin’s too big ears and too wide smiles, incessant babble and irreverence. Male and mouthy and willful.
But those ears heat under Arthur’s hands and his smiles warm Arthur on a chilly night. The mindless chatter is easy and the insolence and insults often pull his King from dark thoughts. Merlin is never afraid to speak his mind, stand up for what he thinks is right.
Without seeming to try, Merlin slots into a place in Arthur’s heart. Perfect fit.
The magic is just a bonus, really.
