Title from "The Tuesday's - It's up to you." Not sure if it the idea or the memory of the song came first.
It had seemed like a brilliant idea at night, when Merlin was sleeping warm and wonderful and Arthur had shuffled to the bathroom to take a piss, euphoric and mellow. Now he can hear that Merlin had stepped out of the shower and would start looking for his things, and never had a shirt been this difficult to button in sober condition. Merlin would find his deodorant on the counter, and his little toothbrush travel case empty. He would look around and find it hanging next to Arthur’s. The brushes facing each other like they were talking or about to kiss, which had been very clever at the time and very embarrassing now.
All Merlin had to do was to put his things back in his little travel bag and pretend it had never happened. And Arthur wouldn’t have actually asked. Arthur could deal with that, if only his hands stopped shaking. And… then Merlin arms wrap around his waist, hugging him from behind, murmuring into his back.
- Our toothbrushes look cute together. I kinda like that.
Arthur closes his eyes, leaning into the embrace and letting out a sigh.
- Me too.
