Author's Notes: Knitting!Merlin emerges from his warm, woolly plot bunny, thanks to osky291 and the lovely story she wrote for me for the holiday exchange. See, someone I know was given a homemade knitted sweater packed from top to bottom with patterns and colours she likes, text and symbols of things she has done and are passionate about. There was not a mask in it that didn’t mean something, it was organized chaos and filled with love and care. Makes me wish I could knit. Also, considering how many times I have edited this post now, I wonder if my new years resolution should be to get my stuff beta'd before posting.
Last year we all had a laugh at the horrid homemade knitted sweater Leon got for Christmas, and it seemed you never had received one. So I decided to make you one so you could have a story to share as well. I know you already hate it, since you visited, watched and mocked me while I made it. Even so, I thought you’d like to know the thought behind it.
I tried to keep it simple since you like things to be neat. On your chest there’s the Pendragon crest, which I am sure you recognize if you put your mind to it. On one sleeve there’s the Pendragon dragon. On the other there are nine stars representing the seven forefathers your father always talks about, him and you. If Morgana complains about being left out, tell her I’ll make her one for next Christmas if she doesn’t keep her mouth shut. I’m sorry it’s uneven and crooked, but that’s the charm of homemade sweaters, or so I’ve been told.
Have a happy Christmas and I guess I’ll see you new year’s eve at Gwaine’s, if you will deem us worthy of your company this year.
