Time and Tide

Someone said that time heals all wounds. That wasn't true. Time created new wounds, and cut the old ones deeper.

Merlin waited.

Eventually, there was nobody left. Nobody who remembered Arthur, anyway. Time changed things. Two hundred and fifty-two years after he lost his king, Merlin left Albion behind for the first time.

Standing on the prow of a boat that was bigger and stronger than any that he'd ever seen before, Merlin kept his back to his homeland, and everything he'd lost. Leaving tasted of salt, and he wasn't sure if that was just the spray from the sea.
