“Um, what was that?” Merlin pants, face flushed and eyes wide and a bit glassy.
Arthur’s focused on Merlin’s mouth, on pink lips he’d just been kissing passionately a few heartbeats before. Lips he’d been a bit obsessed by for months.
His gaze slides up to Merlin’s and he grins sheepishly then looks away, nervous now. He shrugs, “I was thinking how much I like you and wanted to ask you out for coffee or take you to dinner and then maybe kiss you after. Then I couldn’t stop thinking about the kissing and you walked in looking all wind swept and delicious and I couldn’t help myself.” He looks back at Merlin, eyes wide. “Was that a mistake? Do you even want me to take you out for coffee or maybe dinner?”
Arthur’s relieved that Merlin’s smiling (a bit dopily). “You know I don’t drink coffee and pouncing on me was a bit sudden but I liked you jumping ahead to the kissing.” Merlin pulls Arthur close again. “I liked the kissing a lot and I’d enjoy getting back to that. I probably won’t say no to some dinner after. I rather hope we’re both going to be famished.”
