Title: Kiss and (Not) Tell
Summary: “You’ll kiss me but you won’t hug me,” Merlin says just as Arthur starts to turn around.
Word Count: 306
Prompt: #138 Anticipation
Author's Notes: This is not beta'd. This is set at the end of Beauty and the Beast (Part 2) when there was an almost hug.
“I-thought you were going for a hug,” Merlin says, confused and slightly embarrassed by his display.
Arthur’s reply: a dragged out ‘no’, and the face he makes after, as if he doesn’t quite know why Merlin went for a hug is especially annoying.
“You’ll kiss me but you won’t hug me,” Merlin says just as Arthur starts to turn around.
Arthur has him against the wall before he knows it.
“That,” he growls. “Never happened.”
“So you didn’t kiss me when you thought you wouldn’t see me again?” Merlin asks cheerfully. The thing is, Arthur’s trying to act angry, his eyes narrowed and his nose flared. But there’s a small smile fighting to come at the corners of Arthur’s lips.
“Shut up, Merlin,” Arthur says. Merlin can’t take his eyes off of Arthur’s lips, he stares at them for a moment before leaning in to press his lips to Arthur’s.
Its nothing like the kiss they shared before; Arthur’s lips crushing against his, hard and rough, teeth clashing against each others. Arthur smelled like desperation then, his hand clutching at the fabric of Merlin’s shirt because he was going to push him away, tell him to leave Camelot and never return.. No, this kiss is nothing like that one. Arthur’s lips are moving with his, plush and soft, his hand gently holding Merlin’s jaw as he moves in closer.
Arthur pulls away too soon for Merlin’s liking, looking around to make sure no one saw them. Then he turns around and walks off. Just when he’s about to turn the corner, he looks over his shoulder and winks at Merlin, a wide grin spreading across his face. Merlin stares after him, his eyes wide and his heart thudding away pleasantly in his chest. He’s already anticipating their next kiss (which, he reckons, will be very soon)
