Arthur sat down at the table mournfully watching his breakfast getting cold. He wasn’t touching his breakfast until his father relented and didn’t send him to that disgusting school. He cross his arms and gave another sigh for good measure making sure his father heard him this time.
“Arthur, I don’t care if you want to go or not,” Uther looked at his five year old son. “You are going, because I am the king and what I say is law. So end of discussion.” Uther said calmly as he turn back to his breakfast.
“But Father, I don’t want to. They are peasants.” Arthur said, wrinkling his nose in disgust. “And, I am a Prince.”
“Those peasants are your subjects, and you have to show them that you can relate to them if the need arises.” Uther sigh, turning to his son again. Watching as the five year old cross his hands in anger again.
Uther look at his son carefully, Arthur was the pride and joy of his life. However, he had to admit that he had spoil his son too much, and if he was honest with himself and he always tried to be. His late wife would be appall at what their son had become, he knew that sending Arthur with kids of lower station would do him good in the long run. Or he hoped, because honestly he didn’t want to see his wife hunting him for the rest of his life for the bad parenting he did in raising their son.
He gave a shudder at the image of Ygraine glowering hatefully at him, if it was one thing he could say about his late wife, was the woman could sure glower. He looked up and notice that Arthur was looking at him strangely. He clear his throat and told his son to eat quickly or he was going to be late for his first day of school. Of course, this had the opposite effect on the child, which instead of making him hurry up, it made glower at his breakfast. Uther mentally sigh, this day was going to be a very long one.
